Systems Deployed: 111.3 kW

Estimated year 1 generation: 131,019 kWh

In the summer of 2024, Michigan Solar Solutions (MSS) partnered with Genesee Polymers Corporation to design, engineer, and install a 111.3 kW roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) system. Founded in 1980 in Burton, Michigan, Genesee Polymers Corporation specializes in manufacturing a broad range of silicone-based products for various industrial applications.

Committed to environmental stewardship, Genesee Polymers prioritizes sustainable practices, including the development of environmentally safe products, process efficiency improvements, renewable energy adoption, and waste minimization. Their new solar array is projected to generate approximately 131,019 kWh of clean energy in its first year, offsetting around 100 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions—equivalent to preventing the combustion of 111,139 pounds of coal.

By transitioning to solar energy, Genesee Polymers is not only reducing its environmental footprint but also stabilizing its energy costs amidst rising electricity rates. This project serves as a strong example of how businesses can integrate renewable energy solutions to enhance sustainability while achieving long-term financial benefits.

Adding to this achievement, the adjacent Genesee Polymers Manufacturing facility, located directly to the north, is also equipped with a 148 kW solar array. With two robust solar installations, Genesee Polymers is doubling its commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future—harnessing the power of the sun to drive both innovation and efficiency.
