Commercial Solar for Michigan Manufacturing

Precision Torque Control, Inc. has been engineering and manufacturing torque-control and tensioning solutions in Midland, Michigan, since 1995. With design, machining, assembly, and testing operations all performed at its Midland facility, energy plays an important role in supporting the company’s manufacturing operations.

Looking for a long-term energy solution, Precision Torque Control partnered with Michigan Solar Solutions to develop a solar system designed around the facility’s energy consumption and operational needs.

Michigan Solar Solutions Designs a Solar Solution for Precision Torque Control

Michigan Solar Solutions installed a 113.4 kW DC commercial solar array at Precision Torque Control’s Midland facility. The system is estimated to generate 130,419 kWh of electricity during its first year, helping offset the facility’s ongoing electricity consumption.

By generating electricity on-site, the solar installation helps Precision Torque Control reduce its dependence on utility power while lowering long-term operating expenses. Producing a portion of its own electricity also gives the company greater protection against future increases in electricity rates.

Solar Energy Supports Long-Term Manufacturing Operations

For a manufacturing company, controlling operating expenses is an important part of maintaining a competitive business. Precision Torque Control’s solar investment provides an opportunity to turn a portion of its energy expenses into a long-term investment in its facility.

The system is designed to support the company’s existing operations while providing energy savings over the life of the project. By incorporating solar into its Midland facility, Precision Torque Control is taking a proactive approach to managing energy costs while continuing to invest in Michigan manufacturing.

Environmental Benefits of Commercial Solar in Michigan

In addition to reducing reliance on utility-generated electricity, the Precision Torque Control solar project contributes to the company’s environmental goals. Over 20 years, the system is estimated to offset 99.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

The project demonstrates how Michigan manufacturers can incorporate renewable energy into their facilities while addressing practical business priorities such as operating costs, energy consumption, and long-term planning.

A Long-Term Investment in Michigan Manufacturing

Precision Torque Control’s solar installation represents a long-term investment in cleaner energy and the continued growth of its Midland manufacturing operation. With a system designed around its facility’s energy needs, the company can generate electricity on-site while working to reduce long-term operating costs and exposure to rising utility rates.

Through its partnership with Michigan Solar Solutions, Precision Torque Control is putting solar energy to work for its business—and making an investment in the future of Michigan manufacturing.
